November and Leverkusen at Stadion an der Alten Försterei

Report by Kristian Eikre

Saturday morning and I woke up at 05:30 home in Oslo. The flight was to leave at 07:50, so there was no time to linger. It had rained throughout the night. That, in combination with sub-zero temperatures on the ground, meant that the road down to the airport express train was covered with a thin layer of ice. But I managed to stay on my feet and made it to the airport safely. But with ice and rain in Oslo, it was fantastic to arrive at glorious sunshine in Berlin. Everything was ready for a wonderful day.

First stop was Hauptmann. There I met Nadja and her friends. We had a beer before the trip continued to Abseitsfalle. Here I met Michi, Sergei and many of our other Union friends. One more beer and some Bamsemums before I moved on to the stadium.

I was in the stadium almost 90 minutes before the game. Sunshine and many happy Unioners made the time until the start of the match pass quickly. Soon we filled our place with both old and young "Bamser". It was also nice to see that Union welcomed Andrich well, with a loud "Fussballgott".

I found the match quite good, although we lost 1-2. The two goals for Leverkusen came a little too easily and a little bit out of nothing, but apart from that, I think we played a good game. We still create too little forward in the pitch, but we met a very good team today and we scored one goal, apparently our first in more than 500 minutes. So, I think we should take care of this good feeling until next weekend. Then we meet another very good team, Stuttgart, and this time away.
