Wednesday August 28th – arriving in Berlin
Finally it’s going to happen, I am returning to Berlin for the first time since I was born! Maybe I will even meet someone from my family there? Being a mascot can sometimes be pretty lonely. I know the people from Bamsegjengen love me and always will take good care of me, but family is family I’ll say.
One thing I’ll surely do is meet some crazy football fans – but that I am used to from Bohemen, no stress.
Luckily my big friend Rune will travel with me. I have heard he has been in Berlin many hundred zillion times and knows his ways around, I trust him.
One thing though, as far as I remember I have never been on a plane before. I am pretty sure it happened one time when I was a baby but I have no memories of that. I am a little bit excited about flying, not really scared, but it's a hell of a long way down if something goes wrong. Fortunately I can have a beer to calm my nerves, I’ll handle that, I am a big Bear now.
So, that flying thing went very well. The crazy bubbles in my ears were a little bit strange but a couple of big swallows of beer and “booom”, the bubbles were gone. I am pretty sure I can easily fly again. Now, let’s see what Berlin has to offer an open minded and curious Bear like me. Can I take Berlin, or more important, can Berlin take me!?
Wow, it was a Bear Convention at the airport! Cool cats, or rather Bears, I managed to take a photo together with one from Ukraine. I totally understand he preferred Berlin to Kyiv these days, it’s hell over there for people as well for Bears.
Our hotel was okay, no 5 star luxury but all you need and a view over the rooftops of Berlin. AND, one very important thing, air conditioning!!! Bloody hell have they turned up the heater down here in Berlin!
Well, we have a few tricks when the weather is like this, chillin’ in the shadow is always the best option – and to drink enough.
After a short while our two good friends, Michi and Sergey (that I have met in Oslo several times), came to welcome us to Berlin. Cheers in the shadow at Panenka I say! We had a lovely evening together with some great Italian food. I have to admit I got a little bit tipsy, but I just about think we saved the evening with a Radler at the end. That’s only 2,0%, like no alcohol at all. Hick!
